Journalist Daniel Ojukwu of the Foundation for Investigative Journalism (FIJ) is back on his own terms.
The Inspector General of Police’s Intelligence Response Team kidnapped Ojukwu.
After being detained by the police for ten days, he was liberated on Friday.
This was verified by FIJ on its website on Friday.
Ojukwu was reported missing on Wednesday. His whereabouts were unclear to coworkers, family, and acquaintances, and he was unavailable due to his switched off phones.
FIJ filed a missing person complaint at the local police stations where Ojukwu was heading 24 hours after he vanished.
On Wednesday, May 1, Ojukwu vanished from his workplace. His contacts were disconnected, and his whereabouts remained a mystery to his relatives, friends, and colleagues.
But a private investigator that FIJ engaged was able to locate his phones’ last known location to an address in Isheri Olofin, which FIJ now believes is where the cops first picked him up.
