Kevin De Bruyne equalized for City in the 76th minute, curling a close-range ball past the goalie to give City the lead again.
After extra time ended in a 1-1 draw, Madrid won 4–4 overall thanks to Antonio Rüdiger’s game-winning penalty kick.
In the shootout, penalties from Bernardo Silva and Mateo Kovacic were saved, and the 14-time champions, Real Madrid, defeated the reigning champions, City.
