After disclosing her stiff-person syndrome diagnosis in a recent Vogue France issue, Céline Dion is talking candidly about her life.
In the new interview, Dion acknowledges that she’s been “well” and “taking it one day at a time,” but she also says, “It’s a lot of work.”
She underlines, saying, “I haven’t overcome the illness; it still exists and always will.” For the time being, I have to learn to live with it, but I hope that science will work a miracle and find a cure.
Dion explains that she now receives “athletic, physical and vocal therapy” five days a week in order to address her stiff-person syndrome. “I work on my toes, my knees, my calves, my fingers, my singing, and my voice,” she says.
Céline is trying her hardest to “stop questioning myself” and “live” with the diagnosis. “At the beginning, I would ask myself: why me?” she acknowledges. How did this come about? How did I get here? Is this my fault?
She notes, “Life doesn’t give you any answers.” “You simply must experience it! I am not sure why I have this condition. I see myself with two options. I either put in a ton of work and train like an athlete, or I give up and spend my time at home listening to music, standing in front of the mirror, and singing to myself.
I have made the decision to work with a medical team with every fiber of my being, from head to toe. My goal is to reach my full potential. I want to see the Eiffel Tower once more.
“Above all, the love of my family and my children, the love of the fans, too, and the support of my team,” Céline says when asked what helps her endure the challenges. SPS patients could not be fortunate enough or wealthy enough to receive quality medical care from qualified professionals. These are my resources, and this is a gift.
“I am endowed with this strength. I am aware that nothing can stop me.” As for your question about touring, it’s difficult for me to provide a definitive answer. The individual in question has previously expressed uncertainty about returning to touring, stating that their body will alert them when they are ready.
It can be a morally challenging experience to take things day by day, but the individual remains committed to their passion and desires. The will to pursue their dreams and aspirations remains strong, and they continue to work hard towards them every day.
Dion surprised everyone by showing up unexpectedly at the 2024 Grammy Awards in February and giving Taylor Swift the Album of the Year trophy.
