The All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate for 2023, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, passed dead. Onu, the first civilian governor of Abia State, passed away in Abuja on Thursday, according to sources.
The APC mainstay has been dealing with health issues, while specifics of the incident are still unknown. During the 2022 APC primary election, Onu made a significant public appearance by raising concerns about injustices faced by people from the Southeast.
Onu was appointed as the Minister of Science and Technology by former President Muhammadu Buhari in November 2015. Onu, however, left this post on May 6, 2022, in order to run for the APC presidential nomination, which President Bola Tinubu eventually won.
