In northwest Iran on Sunday afternoon, a helicopter carrying Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi crashed.
It’s unknown if Raisi and the other passengers on the plane made it out of the wreck.
While the president was in neighboring Azerbaijan, an event occurred.
Rescue workers are en route to the scene of the incident, according to Iran’s interior minister.
According to the Iranian official news agency IRNA, Raisi, local officials, and Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian were in the chopper that was involved in the incident.
In response to the reports, the semi-official Fars news agency asked Iranians to pray for Raisi.
Authorities were waiting for more information, Interior Minister Ahmed Vahidi stated on state TV.
After winning the presidency on her second attempt in 2021, the 63-year-old Raisi has tightened morals rules, brutally suppressed anti-government demonstrations, and pressed hard in nuclear negotiations with international powers.
