In honor of this year’s Eid-El-Fitr, the Federal Government has formally declared that Thursday will be recognized as an extra public holiday.
The Ministry of Interior’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Aishetu Gogo Ndayako, issued a statement that made this claim on Tuesday.
The statement further stressed that the Muslim Ummah has been congratulated by the Honorable Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji Ojo, on successfully completing a month-long spiritual renewal. It also restates President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s (GCFR) steadfast dedication to guaranteeing a secure and prosperous Nigeria so that all of its residents can prosper.
Initially, Tuesday and Wednesday were set aside by the Nigerian government for the celebration of Eid-El-Fitr. The holidays were extended since the reported sighting of the crescent moon on Monday was not verified.
Since there was no sighting of the crescent moon on Wednesday, April 10, Saudi Arabia and the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar, declared it to be Eid el-Fitr.
