Bola Tinubu has praised former Anambra Governor, Chukwuemeka Ezeife, for his contributions to Nigeria’s peace and unity, calling him a true patriot.
Tinubu believes Ezeife’s leadership will help Nigeria overcome its challenges and emerge stronger.
Former Anambra State governor Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife, who passed away on Saturday, was a champion of Nigerian unity during his lifetime, according to President Bola Tinubu.
At the late rights activist and elder statesman’s funeral in Igboukwu, Aguata Local Government Area, Anambra State, Tinubu made this statement and called the guy a true son of the soil.
Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State attended Tinubu’s funeral. He called Ezeife a valiant fighter.
“Ezeife passed away just when Nigeria most needed his ideas for growth. He is a man of immense power. A man with leadership experience and a former permanent secretary to the federal government.
“We urge his loved ones to find comfort in his enduring legacies, even as we pray for the repose of his soul,” Tinubu stated.
Several dignitaries attended the funeral service, which Chukwuma Soludo, the governor of Anambra State, sponsored.
Among the dignitaries attending the function are Senators Ben Ndi-Obi, Uche Ekwunife, Victor Umeh, and Chris Ngige, a former state governor and two-term minister of labor and employment.
Along with Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, all of the state’s traditional rulers were present.
In the Third Republic in 1992, late Ezeife was elected governor of Anambra State on the platform of the Social Democratic Party, or SDP.
He held the position of governor till 1993, when late military leader Sani Abacha took over and abolished all civilian organizations.
