The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) former president Ali Ciroma passed away. He passed away on Tuesday at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital in Borno State’s capital city of Maiduguri. His death has been verified by a family member in a statement released on Tuesday.
“I must announce the loss of Comrade Ali Ciroma, the former president of the Nigeria Labour Congress, with great grief.

“The burial ceremony to honor the departed will take place tomorrow, Wednesday, at 4 pm at the residence of the deceased, located at No.7A along Galadima Road near Muhammadu Shuwa Memorial Hospital (Nursing Home), Maiduguri.”
From 1984 to 1988, Ciroma presided over the NLC until the military government of Gen. Ibrahim Babangida ousted him and the organization was disbanded.
But he was welcomed back into the union scene under the Abacha administration, where he was named the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers’ Sole Administrator.
