Dana Air has acknowledged that on Tuesday morning at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, one of their aircraft went off the runway.
They confirmed it in a statement that was made public on Tuesday.
Dana reported that during the flight from Abuja to Lagos, the aircraft attempted to land but went off the runway.
It said that it has reported the incident to the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority and the Accident Investigation Bureau, but expressed relief that no casualties were reported.
Dana Air apologizes to the public for informing them of a runway incursion involving one of our aircraft, registration number 5N BKI, while it was operating a flight from Abuja to Lagos on April 23, 24.
“We are relieved to confirm that all 83 passengers and crew members on board the flight disembarked safely and without incident, thanks to the crew’s exceptional professionalism in handling the situation.”
The aircraft involved has been grounded by our maintenance team while we do additional inquiry, and we have also alerted the NCAA and AIB on the situation.
