An approaching heatwave is being warned of by NiMet for all of Nigeria, with an emphasis on the northern states of Kano, Gombe, Sokoto, Yobe, and numerous others.
The organization published a thorough map that was color-coded to show the various degrees of heat stress. It is advised that locals in these places take preventative steps to avoid sunstroke.
It’s also advisable for areas like Kogi, Niger, FCT, Kaduna, and Kwara to be ready for heat fatigue, heatstroke, and cramping in the muscles. In a similar vein, residents of Ado-Ekiti, Akwa-Ibom, Ondo, and Osun are cautioned to exercise caution in light of such hazards.
NiMet emphasizes that the forecast only applies to Friday, April 5, and that it expects some southern locations to see brief respite from rainfall. The organization emphasizes that a number of variables, such as humidity and sunlight, can cause heat stress.
