Lydia Simon, a Chibok girl who was kidnapped ten years ago, has been successfully freed by troops from Operation Desert Sanity III, a component of North East Operation Hadin Kai.
The 82 Division Task Force Battalion saved Lydia and her three children on April 17, 2024, in the Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.
Zagazola Makama, a Counter Insurgency Expert and Security Analyst in the Lake Chad region, was informed by intelligence sources that Lydia, one of the stolen girls with serial number 68, was able to escape from Ali Ngulde’s Mandara Mountain camp after being held captive for years. In the Gwoza LGA, she turned herself in to the military at Ngoshe.
Five months pregnant, Lydia claimed to be from Chibok’s Pemi Town.
